The Summer Palace enjoys a worldwide longstanding reputation for its superb craftsmanship. Today we took a sightseeing boat cruising northward up along the river to this beautiful imperial garden. The tour guide captured the attention of our little passengers aboard and aroused their great interest by introducing tourist attractions along the river during the journey.

Making a gentle turn, the river widened suddenly and in front of us spread the vast surface of Kunming Lake. The water was stirred by all sorts of sightseeing boats and the Seventeen-Arch Bridge towered over the water. Verdant hills dominated the distant skyline. Our campers were amazed by the view, so different from anything they had seen before.

Getting off the boat, we headed for our first destination – the Longevity Hill which stood towering beside the Kunming Lake. The way towards the hilltop was paved by steep stone stairs, but none of our campers complained about it; instead they kept charging on until the top to get a birds view of the scenery of the Summer Palace and cheered each other up along the way.

It’s really a rewarding trip, yeah!
Another hard-working day for our instructors
Following the trip to the imperial garden, our campers were served with delicious Chinese imperial food while enjoying court performances.

After lunch, the kids were taken to China National Film Museum where exhibitions and various fancy, state-of-the-art multimedia devices were employed to show them the history of Chinese movie industry and movie-making techniques. Fascinated by the movie world, some even forgot the time. Perhaps someday in the future some of these kids will turn out to be great directors or actors/actresses. You never know!
